In Somaliland, the Isaaq Sultanate was established in 1750. The Isaaq Sultanate was a Somali kingdom that ruled parts of the Horn of Africa during the 18th and 19th centuries. It spanned the territories of the Isaaq clan, descendants of the Banu Hashim clan, in modern-day Somaliland and Ethiopia. The sultanate was governed by the Rer Guled branch established by the first sultan, Sultan Guled Abdi, of the Eidagale clan. According to oral tradition, prior to the Guled dynasty the Isaaq clan-family were ruled by a dynasty of the Tolje'lo branch starting from, descendants of Ahmed nicknamed Tol Je'lo, the eldest son of Sheikh Ishaaq's Harari wife. There were eight Tolje'lo rulers in total, starting with Boqor Harun (Somali: Boqor Haaruun) who ruled the Isaaq Sultanate for centuries starting from the 13th century. The last Tolje'lo ruler Garad Dhuh Barar (Somali: Dhuux Baraar) was overthrown by a coalition of Isaaq clans. The once strong Tolje'lo clan were scattered and took refuge amongst the Habr Awal with whom they still mostly live. In the late 19th century, after the Berlin Conference of 1884, European powers began the Scramble for Africa. In that year, a British protectorate was declared over part of Somalia, on the African coast opposite South Yemen. Initially, this region was under the control of the Indian Office, and so administered as part of the Indian Empire; in 1898 it was transferred to control by London.
=== 2026 Data breach and class action === On January 28, 2026, Panera Bread was hit by a cyber attack, along with other companies including Bumble and Match. The company revealed that contact information was the data involved. Later reporting noted that the aggressor was ShinyHunters, that they stole information on around 5 million people (14 million records), and subsequently leaked this information to the dark web. Two class action lawsuits were filed against the company shortly after, citing Panera Bread's failure to properly secure the personal information that was stolen.

In North America, the 323 saloon became the Protegé, while the 323 hatchback kept its name. There, and in the Philippines, base (SE/DX), 4WD and top-line LX models were available. The 1990 base model has the SE name and uses the B8 1.8 L SOHC engine that has 16 valves and hydraulic lifters. In 1991, the base model name was changed to "DX". 4WD models existed for the 1990 and 1991 model years, with the SOHC engine and rear disc brakes. The LX version of the Protegé included a 1.8 L DOHC 16-valve BP engine producing 125 hp (93 kW; 127 PS). LX models also have power windows and door locks and 14-inch wheels. Vented front and solid rear disc brakes, larger front brakes, larger clutch, equal-length driveshafts, dual outlet muffler, body-color door handles and mirrors, fold-down rear center armrest, driver's vanity mirror, and larger stabilizer bars. A sunroof and 14-inch aluminum alloy wheels were options on LX models. The Protegé nameplate was also applied for 323 saloon in Brazil, which was really similar to the Canadian market specification. However, only a fuel injected 1.8 L SOHC engine was offered there. BG models that were assembled in New Zealand came with glass headlights instead of plastic, and a 240 km/h speedometer. In Thailand, the 323 saloon was initially offered in a single unnamed trim with a carbureted 1.6 L SOHC engine as the sole option. The facelifted model was divided into two levels: the 1.3i and 1.6i LX, and the better-equipped 1.6i GLX. All engines featured fuel injection, and the latter came with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option.
=== Trial and conviction === On May 10, 2010, a three-week trial commenced where Second Circuit District judge John F. Keenan presided. The trial concluded on June 4 when the jury returned a guilty verdict on all five counts, albeit, guilty on a lesser charge of aiding and abetting rather than running a sanctions violation money transmittal system. On June 7, 2010, despite the superseding indictment charge of $3.4 million, the same jury agreed to forfeit one bank account associated with a $6,000 transaction as the proceeds of the charges and the guilty verdict. The jury ruled that Mahmoud Reza Banki's other assets including the apartment he had purchased with the family funds he had received was not a direct proceeds of any crime and not forfeitable. Judge Keenan overruled the jury only in the case of the forfeiture verdict on the basis that the jury might have been "confused" and awarded the government prosecutors a money judgment order, essentially ignoring the jury verdict on forfeiture and awarding the US Attorney's office $3.4 million, to be paid by Banki. This would have been the same as if the jury had come to the decision of full forfeiture of all of Banki's assets.

=== Coal === Coal is a more traditional precursor to alkanes. A wide range of technologies have been intensively practiced for centuries. Simply heating coal gives alkanes, leaving behind coke. Relevant technologies include the Bergius process and coal liquefaction. Partial combustion of coal and related solid organic compounds generates carbon monoxide, which can be hydrogenated using the Fischer–Tropsch process. This technology allows the synthesis of liquid hydrocarbons, including alkanes. This method is used to produce substitutes for petroleum distillates.
In February 2019, Sergey Lavrov stated that the withdrawal from the INF Treaty would not lead to "a new Cold War". The Russian news agency TASS reported the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stating: "I don't think that we should talk about a new Cold War", adding that the US development of low-yield nuclear warheads (the first of which entered production in January 2019) had increased the potential for the use of nuclear weapons. Undeterred, Aditya returns to India and has Ajay's proxy killed with the excuse of self-defence and announces that they will display Ajay's corpse to the media. Vinod's accomplices, cornered and with no other options, turn against him; to save themselves, they have Ajay secretly returned to India and killed. At Ajay's wake, however, it is revealed Ajay is not Vinod's son but that of feared mafia boss Hariharan "Hari" Chopra, who is responsible for the massacre of 17 policemen in Mumbai. While in London, Hari learns of Ajay's murder. Vowing revenge, he secretly enters India via the Bangladesh–India border. Fearing for his life, Vinod contacts Aditya's daughter, Valli, and warns her that Aditya is in danger. Hari later stabs Vinod for his inability to protect Ajay, targets Aditya and Valli, and arranges a gruesome car accident. Aditya survives the attack, but Valli is diagnosed with a subdural hematoma, and her doctor tells her she has only two hours to live. Valli records a video for Aditya and dies. In his grief over her death, Aditya turns violent. Believing Vinod to be responsible for the car accident, Aditya barges into his residence but learns of his murder. Enraged and confused, Aditya sets out to discover the truth behind Valli's death and kills numerous gangsters in the process. Present: Hari's goons ambush Aditya and his subordinates. Although they survive the attack, they suspend Aditya for his rash behaviour. About to give up, he discovers Valli's video, in which she reveals Vinod's earlier warning and encourages Aditya to persevere with his investigation.
